Where’s an intriguing life when you need it?
Leigh Evans lives in Southern Ontario with her husband and a short, fat, black dog.
I’ve raised two kids, mothered three dogs, and herded a few cats. Other than that, my life has been fairly boring.
Consider me a work in progress.

F.A.Q’s about yours truly
1. Have you always written?
No. I wrote about that here: http://leighevans.wordpress.com/for-perspiring-authors/step-one/ That post is the first of many that charts my journey from the start of writing Hedi’s story to winning my agent, Deidre Knight, through the Speed-Dating-With-Deidre contest hosted on The Knight Agency blog.
2. Is Hedi’s Book of Rules your first novel?
Yes. With all the hell that implies.
3. Do you have plans for more?
You betcha. It’s getting crowded in my mind.
4. What advice can you give to budding authors?
Read. Write. Delete. Critique. Push. Re-write. Learn. Enjoy. And here’s the final one, which I only recently discovered: The scene that you don’t want to add to your book—because it will rip your heart out to live through it—is the one that must be written.
5. What’s a writer’s best tools?
The pink stuff for your stomach, determination, perseverance, and writer pals, who will threaten you with death and humiliation if you dare to give up. A mentor helps too:-)
6. Were you always so awesome?
Sorry to disappoint, but I was the kid with a learning disability in grade school and the wrong hem-length in high school. Let’s not even discuss college, where I discovered all the things that were cool and not so cool, and realized that I probably fell into the latter category. Truth be told, I doubt I’ll ever be awesome, but damn, I keep trying.
7. Is there a bottom line?
Yes. Never give up. Ever. Even bad things eventually turn around.
